Mildenhall Cycling Rally
25th August - 27th August
Saturday
Under 16's and Ladies
Pippa and Lennox Saint raced on this day taking on a series of grass track events including 400m TT, 3K (Ladies), Devils, and many more.
This was a new discipline to both riders whilst Lennox was riding Jack Mitchell's track bike which was a bit big but he lead most races until the sprints where we decided his bike was overgeared for him but at least he didn't crash with no brakes.
Pippa:
400m Handicap Final - 2nd
Lennox:
Juvenile Omnium (Overall), Category C (Under 12s) - 4th
Sunday
Ladies and Men
Charlie Porter, Pippa and Pete Saint rode on Sunday. Charlie rode the National 800m Championship, and also took part in the fun events of the day including the slow bike race with a difference (the difference being you could only use one arm and one leg) and the Mens World Hoop Championship (a race very much like musical chairs but with the riders having to get their back wheels in the hoop). Pete came 6th in the Unknown Distance and Pippa came 6th in the ladies World Hoop Championship.
The day was finished off by a Team Sprint and Team Pursuit. Charlie, Pete, Pippa and Lennox made up the Boston Wheelers team for the team pursuit having to ride 3k making sure 3 riders crossed the finish line. Pippa was to lead the first half lap but had a bad start when her foot came unclipped but soon recovered and joined the back of the team. Lennox dropped off the back after 2 laps leaving pippa, charlie and pete to finish the race. Pippa soon tired and was struggling to stay on charlie's wheel but with the help from her dad managed to finish the race.
Pete, Charlie and guest rider Tom Ibbit from suningdale cc rode the TEam pursuit with each rider leading the sprint for one lap. Pete rode the first lap followed by Tom and Charlie as the anchorman finished the pursuit beating local team Spalding CC.
Monday
Ladies and Men
The day started off with a children's cyclo-cross seeing jake in 2nd and also lennox in 2nd whilst bryony had a sprint finish.
It was then the senior madison with Pete and Charlie pairing with riders pulled out of a hat, lennox riding with Bradley Burbridge and Pippa pairing with Fliss Saint. All riders finished the event but am not sure of results.
Grass track started at 12pm with a 400m TT for the men. Pippa came 4th in the ladies 1500m scratch race and went on to win the pair hoop championship with will hare (spalding cc) Pete came 8th in the hare and hounds whilst Pippa also came 8th in the Ladies Block Handicap after being put in the scratch group. In the 800m handicap Pete came 4th in his heat whilst Charlie won his and went through to the final. Pippa then went on to win the Ladies 800m handicap.
